Caffeine Comparisons

Caffeine Pouches vs Caffeine Gum: Dose, Price and Everyday Use

If you enjoy chewing gum, caffeine gum is a familiar option. If you'd prefer a flavor without the chewing, a caffeine pouch may suit you better. Both fit in a bag and save you from preparing a drink.

For this comparison, we'll look at Kryze pouches and Neuro's standard Energy & Focus Gum. Their caffeine amounts differ, and pack size makes a noticeable difference to the price per piece.

Would you rather chew or use a pouch?

Gum gives you something to chew. A pouch stays in your mouth until you remove it. That everyday difference is a useful place to start, especially if you already know whether you enjoy having gum during work or a long call.

You don't chew a Kryze pouch. Place it in your mouth, then remove and discard it after use. About 30 minutes is the suggested use time, and you can remove it sooner. Don't chew, open or swallow the pouch; take it out if uncomfortable. The use guide explains the steps and the difference between saliva and the pouch itself.

If chewing is part of what you like about gum, there may be little reason to change. If you'd prefer not to chew, the pouch gives you another option. Think about the experience you want as well as the numbers on the pack.

One piece and one pouch have different amounts

Kryze contains 50mg caffeine per pouch. Neuro's standard Energy & Focus Gum lists 40mg per piece.

Check the version you're buying: standard, extra-strength and caffeine-free products can sit beside each other in the same store. Similar packaging doesn't mean the same caffeine amount.

A strong mint taste or cooling sensation doesn't tell you how much caffeine you've received. If this is your first pouch, our 50mg guide is a useful starting point.

The price gap gets smaller with larger packs

Comparing a small gum pack with a large pouch pack can give you the wrong impression. Here are both sizes, using one-time prices checked on September 29, 2026:

Product Pack size Item price Price per piece or pouch
Kryze, one can 15 pouches $5.99 About $0.40
Kryze, seven-can pack 105 pouches $34.99 About $0.33
Neuro Energy & Focus Gum, Peppermint 54 pieces $24.99 About $0.46
Neuro Energy & Focus Gum, Peppermint bulk bag 90 pieces $30.99 About $0.34

Sources: Kryze's pack options and Neuro's product page. Prices exclude shipping, tax and extra discounts or subscriptions. These are prices per piece or pouch, with different caffeine amounts in the two products.

The bulk gum and seven-can pouch pack are close in price per unit. The gum bag costs less upfront; the Kryze pack contains more units.

Delivery can change the total. Neuro's page advertised free shipping over $45 when checked. Kryze's current seven-can promotion covers eligible standard shipping in the contiguous United States and Washington, D.C., for rates below $11. Checkout confirms eligibility after discounts. A single Kryze can alone doesn't qualify. Compare the final totals before deciding on price.

Read beyond the flavor name

Kryze is sugar-free, but it contains sweeteners. Its caffeine comes from guarana, and the formula includes Alpha-GPC, L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine and CoQ10. Our ingredient guide lists every disclosed amount and the ingredients used for flavor and cooling.

Do the same check for the gum you're considering, particularly if you avoid a specific sweetener or ingredient. Two mint-flavored products can have quite different formulas.

Choosing a Kryze flavor and pack

Fresh Mint has a direct mint profile. Citrus Mint adds a citrus note, while Green Apple Mint brings a tart apple flavor. All three have the same active formula, so choose by taste. The flavor guide goes into more detail.

The $34.99 seven-can pack contains 105 pouches in one chosen flavor. It isn't a mixed-flavor sampler. A single can is an option if you want a smaller purchase before committing to seven. You can see the current flavors and packs here.

Whichever format you choose, include it alongside your other caffeine sources. The FDA explains that sensitivity varies; changing from a drink to gum or a pouch doesn't remove caffeine's potential to affect sleep.

Does either format work faster?

We haven't established that Kryze acts faster than caffeine gum in a direct study. The products' amounts and ingredients are better grounds for this comparison than a promised onset time.

What about flavor duration and mouth comfort?

A fading flavor doesn't tell you that the caffeine's effects are over. Our duration guide separates time in the mouth, flavor and caffeine effects.

This comparison also doesn't establish that pouches are better for your gums than gum. If a pouch feels uncomfortable, remove it. The mouth-comfort guide covers the available information.
